أظهرت بيانات حكومية بريطانية اليوم الاثنين أن 28 ألفا و76 مهاجرا عبروا القنال الإنجليزي على متن قوارب صغيرة منذ بداية العام، في زيادة قدرها 46% مقارنة بالفترة نفسها من عام 2024، وهو رقم قياسي يفاقم الضغوط على رئيس الوزراء العمالي كير ستارمر بشأن سياسات حكومته في ملف الهجرة واللجوء.
وتأتي هذه الزيادة وسط تزايد القلق الشعبي من قضية الهجرة، إذ تشير استطلاعات الرأي إلى أنها باتت في مقدمة أولويات البريطانيين، في وقت تتواصل فيه الاحتجاجات المناهضة للمهاجرين أمام عدد من الفنادق التي تؤوي طالبي لجوء.
وبحسب وزارة الداخلية البريطانية، فقد جرى تسجيل الرقم القياسي أمس الأحد مع وصول 212 مهاجرا على متن 4 قوارب.
وشهدت مدن بريطانية عدة مطلع الأسبوع الجاري مظاهرات متفرقة في أعقاب حكم قضائي صدر الأسبوع الماضي قضى بضرورة إخلاء فندق في منطقة إيبينغ شمال شرقي لندن من طالبي اللجوء الذين كانوا يقيمون فيه.
وتعهدت حكومة حزب العمال بزعامة ستارمر بـ"التوقف التدريجي" عن استخدام الفنادق لإيواء طالبي اللجوء بحلول عام 2029، فضلا عن إصلاح منظومة اللجوء المتعثرة.
وأعلنت الحكومة أمس الأحد عن إجراءات جديدة تهدف إلى تسريع البت في طلبات اللجوء والحد من التراكم الكبير في الملفات، والذي يتجاوز 100 ألف حالة.
ويشكل ملف الهجرة إحدى أكثر القضايا حساسية وتعقيدا أمام حكومة ستارمر التي تواجه انتقادات من المعارضة المحافظة ومن قطاعات شعبية ترى أن استمرار تدفق المهاجرين يقوض الثقة في وعود الحكومة بضبط الحدود وإدارة النظام الجديد للهجرة.
