قبل أيام زحف الإعصار "إيداي" من المحيط الهندي مصحوبا برياح بلغت سرعتها 170 كيلومترا وأمطار غزيرة، ليضرب مناطق بشرقي أفريقيا مخلفا مئات الضحايا ودمارا واسعا. وكانت موزمبيق الأكثر تضررا ويرجح مصرع ألف من مواطنيها، وقضى مئة شخص وفقد مئتان بزيمبابوي، بينما سبقت الإعصار بمالاوي سيول أسفرت عن مصرع 56 شخصا.
