منحت الكويت عقدا بـ1.4 مليار دينار (4.8 مليارات دولار) لشركة الخرافي الوطنية من أجل توسعة مطار الكويت الدولي.

وأعلنت لجنة المناقصات المركزية الكويتية أنه تم منح العقد الضخم للشركة التي تعد من أهم شركات الإنشاءات في الكويت.

ويتضمن العقد إنشاء مبنى جديد للركاب ومدرج جديد إضافة إلى ثلاثين بوابة لرفع قدرة المطار الاستيعابية من سبعة ملايين مسافر سنويا إلى 13 مليون مسافر في 2016.

ويفترض أن ترتفع القدرة الاستيعابية إلى 25 مليون مسافر في 2025.
